The Alligator River Story

There lived a woman named Abigail who was in love with a man named
Gregory. Both of them lived on one side of a river. The river was teeming
with dangerous alligators. Gregory sent Abigail into town across the river
to fetch food, and told her to do whatever it takes to be back by midnight
the next day. While Abigail was in town, a storm blew through, knocking
out the bridge. Abigail wanted to cross the river to be with Gregory. 
So she went to ask Sinbad, a riverboat captain, to take her across.
At first, he asked for a hundred dollars. Abigail had no money, and
said, "But Sinbad, I have no money, I cannot pay you." He then said he
would be glad to if she would consent to go to bed with him prior to the
voyage.

She promptly refused and went to a friend named Ivan to explain
her plight. "Ivan," she said, "I need you to loan me 100 dollars so that I can
cross the river and be with Gregory." Ivan did not want to get involved at all
in the situation and said, "I will not give you the money." Abigail then said, "But
Ivan, we gave you money when you needed it and we never even wanted you to
pay us back. I'm not asking for you to give me money, just to loan me the money
that I can repay you as soon as I cross the river!" But once again, Ivan refused. 
Abigail felt her only alternative was to accept Sinbad's terms. Sinbad fulfilled his promise to
Abigail and delivered her into the arms of Gregory.

When Abigail told Gregory about her amorous escapade in order to cross the
river, Gregory cast her aside with disdain. Heartsick and rejected,
Abigail turned to Slug with her tale of woe. Slug, feeling compassion for
Abigail, sought out Gregory and beat him brutally. Abigail was overjoyed
at the sight of Gregory getting his due. As the sun set on the horizon,
people heard Abigail laughing at Gregory.
